First full day in the NICU. He did well over night, continued on the IV drip of D10 and blood sugars were monitored every 6 hrs. They decided he should start to eat but because Jason had a central line, he could only be out of the isolette for short periods of time. They placed an NG tube. The tube was a good thing for a few reasons...Jason had swallowed some blood and had a bunch of air in his stomach, so they emptied his stomach and started tube feedings using breast milk I had pumped. Having the NG tube also allowed the nurses to check how much food Jason was digesting. So Paul and I went from our room on family birthing down to the NICU every three hours all day.

Uncle Luke came to visit Jason in the NICU. Unfortunately, we missed the photo op, but were thankful for his visit. And we are thankful for all the care he provided for Darpy during our stay in the hospital.
Auntie Renee came to visit Jason that night. We were thankful for her company.
