Halloween

We kept the tradition we started last year...we made a campfire and sat in our driveway as we passed out Halloween candy and watched kids and families go from house to house! The weather was great and Darpy loved his costume!

We also had a surprise visit from our friends Matt, Theresa and their daughter Audrey!

We also had a visit from Andy Groth and his family, but forgot to snap a picture!

Little Sunshine Baby Shower

My sister came on Friday night. We had a low key evening staying up late just talking! We woke up and had a busy Saturday running errands, doing a little Christmas shopping, and getting ready for the baby shower.
My sister threw me an incredible baby shower on Sunday! Jess put a lot of time, love, energy, and creativity into the shower! The baby's room theme is "You are my sunshine" and Jess used this for the shower! Everything was AMAZING! The decor was all yellow, gray and white. From the invitation:

Too the decorations including yellow+white flowers in several vases, gray+white wrapping paper covering pictures on the walls, handmade yellow crepe paper flower bouquet, water bottles and cupcakes with emblems of Precious Baby and Little Sunshine, floating yellow/gray print hanging circles, handmade easels to share what delicious food was on the table, a scrumptious dessert table full of yellow and white food...it was all amazing! Here are some pictures to try to capture it all!

Love all the generous gifts I received especially this handmade messenger bag from Jess!

So thankful for family/friends!

So thankful for my sister, the shower she put together, and the ongoing love and support she has given this baby, Paul, and me!

She even stayed after the shower and made a crib skirt for us!

And I loved the floating circles so much I added them to the baby room decor!

Thank you to the best sister and soon to be auntie!

A week off :0)

Oct 14-16 (sun-tues)
I left Sunday morning and headed to Duluth to spend some time with my sister and family. Isaac and Eddy spend the afternoon at their hunting land. Piper was napping while Jess and I spent some time going through stuff for the shower and baby things! We all had a wonderful dinner together and had a low key evening!

30 week bump!

Then Monday, we got Isaac on the school bus...

And Piper and I did some puzzles before Eddy took her to daycare.

Jess and I spent the day running errands...looking for some baby shower things, curtains for the baby room, grabbed lunch and did a little clothes shopping. Then we had an early dinner at Blackwater...an awesome swanky bar that has great appetizers, drinks and fondue! We shared a couple of small pizzas, Jess had a cocktail and I had a lemon water! And we shared lady Godiva fondue! It was fabulous!

Then we went back to her house to change for yoga! Jess brought me to a prenatal yoga class she had gone to when she was pregnant. It was at the copper top church, with a group of about 15 women. The first hour we talked about birthing techniques. We went in a circle and each person talked about strategies/methods that provided comfort during labor/birth. It was awesome to hear what worked for each woman and what other first time moms where planning for birth plans. The second hour was practicing yoga... Low O's, hula hips, deep breathing and relaxing through the poses. It was an awesome overwhelming experience! I sat in the class reflecting on the difficulties Paul and I had getting pregnant and then there I was, sitting among other pregnant women, hearing their empowering stories, preparing for the birth of our baby and feeling my baby kick and move in my belly! It was incredible and I'm so thankful Jess brought me and shared the experience with me! I wish I could go every week!

Tuesday morning we took Isaac to school, then Jess and Piper and I hung out, ran a few errands, and ate lunch. Piper and I took a little nap and then after Isaac came home from school we played a little. Then I made my way home. The time in Duluth was awesome and it was hard to leave.

Wednesday was spent doing laundry, cleaning the house, organizing, running errands, talking a walk with Darpy and packing for our getaway. A last trip as a couple before baby comes aka "babymoon"!

Thursday morning Paul and I made our way to the cities! We took the scenic route and had relaxing drive. Our first stop was at Ikea, we had to make a return on some cushions that didn't work and then spent some time looking around. We ended up getting some drawer dividers for the baby room dresser, nothing too exciting! Then we stopped at Bed Bath and Beyond where we got a curtain rod for the baby room and a new comforter for our bedroom!

Then we went to Hotel Ivy in Minneapolis. Paul's friend was able to get us a great deal, the room was on the executive level (on the 17th floor) which had some perks like cookies with turn down service! And a free drink (which Paul had of course) at the restaurant in the hotel. We got ready and walked to dinner at Manny's steakhouse. A delicious meal!

After dinner we took a walk around the Hennepin theater district, then back to the hotel for the night.

We slept in Friday morning and splurged and ordered breakfast in bed! It was awesome! Then we went to the Ivy Spa (on the second floor of the hotel) and sat in the relaxation room and read a book. Next, we had a couples massage...it was amazing!

We felt rejuvenized and decided to go for a walk so we went to Lake Calhoun and walked around the lake! It was a beautiful day!

After the walk we stopped at Caribou for a coffee and cider. Then went to Whole Foods Market and grabbed a few snacks.

Then we headed back to the hotel and got ready to go to dinner. We went our favorite restaurant, Zelo. We had a delicious meal and great conversation!

We woke up Saturday, sad to leave but thankful for the amazing time we had together!

We went home, dropped of our stuff and then went to lunch with our dear friends Casey and Brandon at The White Horse. We had a wonderful time!

And today, we went to church, bought a fan for the baby's room, put the curtains up in the baby's room, watched some football, went through tubs of baby stuff from my sister and relaxed.

I'm so happy I have had the week off to get the house organized and cleaned, the baby's room set up, spend time in Duluth, have a babymoon with my husband! It was an amazing week!

3hr test and dinner

Oct 12 - Friday
Because I failed the one hour glucose test, I had to have a 3hr glucose test to check if I have gestational diabetes. Which meant I had to take a day off on work, not happy about either one. I could not eat or drink anything after 11pm on Thursday. I woke up on Friday and went to my appt at 7:30. I arrived and they took a fasting lab draw. Then I had to drink 8oz of even higher potency of dextrose in 5 min. Then wait an hour. They took a lab draw on the hour for 3 hrs. I met with the nurse after the 2nd lab draw and she told me I passed! Fasting level was 73 (had to be <95), 1st lab 143 (had to be <180), 2nd lab 104 (had to be <155) an 3rd lab 89 (had to be <140). SUPER happy I passed!

We had dinner that night with our dear friends Scott an Laura Seabloom! We ate at a Greek restaurant, great food and conversation! Then had a campfire and s'mores at their house! A great way to end the week!

Bathroom and carpets

Oct 11 - Thursday
The upstairs bathroom tile was completed! The project took much longer than expected. I tried to be patient, but when your bathroom is out of commission for 3 weeks and you have to go to the bathroom all the time (especially in the middle of the night) and have to go down stairs, you lose a little patience! We are very happy with how it turned out! In the end it was worth the wait!

With the tile completed, we could finally moved to the next step which was getting the carpets cleaned! We were thankful to have Paul's brother Luke around as he helped move the furniture. A clean house :0)

Oct 3, 5, 7

Oct 3 - Wednesday
My parents came to visit! They came around 5 pm. They made us a tasty dinner (homemade pot pie), we visited and watched a bit of the presidential debate. Then we went to bed early as Paul and I worked in the morning. My parents also made us breakfast before work...pancakes and bacon! A great way to start the day! We loved having them visit!

Oct 5 - Friday
MD appt for the one hour glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. No preparation needed for the test, you drink an 8oz glass of dextrose in 5 min then get a lab draw an hour later. I was nervous about it but knew I've been eating healthy and exercising. Turns out my level was 147 and needed to be less than 140, so I had to schedule a 3 hr glucose test :0(

Oct 7 - Sunday
A lunch and shopping date with girlfriends at Albertville outlet! Tiffany, Courtney and I had lunch at D Michael B restaurant and then made our way to the stores. It was a wonderful afternoon with great friends!
